Waverly Area in Tioga County Meets COVID Metrics for Yellow Precautionary Zone

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced updated COVID-19 micro-cluster focus areas on Wednesday. Based on data metrics, Cuomo said a new yellow precautionary zone focus area has been designated for the Waverly zip code area in Tioga County, effective Monday.
 
Tioga County – New Yellow Precautionary Zone
Over the past ten days, the Waverly area of Tioga County has had 7-day average positivity rates above 4 percent. Cases per 100,000 and new daily hospital admissions have increased, meeting the metrics for a yellow zone designation, said Cuomo.

Yellow Zones means state officials want to monitor the defined area to ensure the outbreak is not spreading into the broader community. In the zone, some activity is restricted to help prevent further spread while metrics are monitored daily to ensure COVID is not spreading.
