Evelyn L. Rockwell, 90, of Berkshire, New York, passed away peacefully, on September 20, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories, love, and family who will forever cherish her.
Evelyn was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be deeply missed by her devoted daughter, Donna Whitman, and son-in-law, David, who were blessed to share many years of love, memories, and family moments with her. She leaves behind her grandchildren, Crystal Boll and Amy Avila and her husband, Omar, who will carry her memory in their hearts. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Evelyn and Averey Avila, who brought her immense love and joy. Evelyn is also survived by her sisters, Judy Hardik, Nancy Rutkowski, and Sue Space, her nephew, Joe Seymour, and countless nieces and nephews, along with extended family and loved ones.
Evelyn was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank, her son, Calvin, her sisters Joan Coffin and Grace Murch, her brother, John Dingman.
The family would like to give special recognition to Joe Seymour, who was always willing to help and was a tremendous source of support. His kindness, time, and willingness to be there when needed will always be remembered and deeply appreciated by Evelyn’s family.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Evelyn’s neighbor, Michael Harders, for his kindness, thoughtfulness, and support. His willingness to look out for Evelyn and be there when needed was deeply appreciated by her and her family. His compassion and friendship meant more than words can express.
Evelyn lived a life filled with both beautiful moments and difficult chapters. Through all that life brought her, she remained a cherished part of her family, leaving an impact that will continue through the generations.
Her family will remember her not only for the years they shared with her, but for the countless memories, lessons, stories, and moments that made her who she was. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her love will remain a part of her family forever.
Evelyn’s memory will live on in the hearts of her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters, countless nieces and nephews, neighbors, and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.
Relatives and friends are invited to a period of visitation on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the MacPherson Funeral Home, 5 Whig Street, Newark Valley, NY, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating her life will take place on Friday September 25, 2026, at 12:00 noon, at the funeral home, with an additional period of visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
