$46 million dollars. That’s what it takes to run Tioga County’s biggest school district, and that’s what 510 voters approved Tuesday in the Owego-Apalachin School District. 209 voters were against the budget. The purchase of 5 new school buses were also approved, and two new board members were elected to fill 2 vacancies. Former Village of Owego Trustees Michael Phelps and Jason Luke ran unopposed for the school board seats. The establishment of a Capital Reserve fund was also approved; and the Apalachin Public Library Budget was passed on the same ballot.
In the Union-Endicott School District, the budget passed along with both propositions. Two new-comers won seats on the school board, while two incumbents were defeated. Chenango Valley also passed their budget and propositions in a $38 million dollar budget for next school year. That budget increased by $397,000 dollars.
