The New York State Police said in a press release that they are continuing to look for answers in the case of Michele Harris, who went missing on Sept. 11, 2001.
In the coming weeks, State Police investigators will be conducting additional searches for evidence related to this case.
During a press conference in May, Cal Harris and his children announced a $100,000 reward was being offered for information resulting in the discovery of the remains of Michele Harris.
The state police said the private reward and tip line are not connected to their agency. Anyone with information should contact the state police directly at 607-561-7400 or by email at [email protected].
Cal Harris was tried four times over an 11-year period for the murder of his wife. He was convicted twice by Tioga County juries, but both convictions were overturned.
He was then faced a jury trial in Schoharie County, but the third trial would end in a mistrial when the jury was deadlocked. Finally, Harris was found not guilty by a Schoharie County Judge in a bench trial in 2016.
“We will not stop seeking justice for Michele Harris and her loved ones,” said Captain Lucas J. Anthony, Troop C Bureau of Criminal Investigation. “Our investigators are reviewing all available leads, and we continue to ask the public to share any information that may assist us.”
The New York State Police thank the community for its continued support and encourage anyone with knowledge about Michele Harris’ disappearance to reach out.
