Southern Tier Farmer Faces Five Felonies for $750K Fraud

Chemung County Sheriff’s Office announces the arrest of 39 year-old MICHAEL J. ROGERS, of 919 Johnson Hollow Road, Town of Veteran (north of Horseheads) and charged him via Chemung County Grand Jury with:


  • three (3) counts of Grand Larceny in the 3rd degree, a Class D Felony;
  • one (1) count of Grand Larceny in the 4th degree, a Class E Felony;
  • and one (1) count of Scheme to Defraud in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division initiated an investigation in November of 2017, after receiving complaints from numerous owners and
operators of cattle farms in the Midwest and Northeast. ROGERS owns and operates Rogers Farms. Over a period of time, ROGERS was alleged to have developed a
financial scheme involving the purchase and sales of cattle, during which he defrauded others of over $750,000.


ROGERS was arrested on a Superior Court Warrant and remanded to the Chemung County jail pending further court appearances.
