A New York State Assemblyman has been charged in federal court with Bribery and Wire Fraud. 79-year-old Joseph Errigo, of Conesus Lake, was paid to introduce specific legislation. The legislation involved reducing the extent of local control over a pending development project in the Rochester area. Errigo is alleged to have received a bribe of $5,500 from the bribe payor. The charges carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. The bill never passed the Assembly. Errigo was defeated in the recent Republican primary, but he is still on the ballot on the Independence Party line.
