Town of Binghamton residents can dispose of many household junk items for free Friday during a limited dropoff at Town Hall.
The collection runs from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at 279 Park Avenue. Town officials organized the event through an arrangement with the Broome County Landfill that allows participating municipalities to bring in debris at no charge on designated days.
Accepted items include mattresses, old toys, water heaters, disassembled hot tubs and debris from home-renovation projects. The service gives residents a chance to dispose of bulky materials that might otherwise carry a landfill fee.
The Town of Binghamton advises residents who are unsure whether an item will be accepted to call 607-772-0357 before traveling to the dropoff.
The Friday collection is the final scheduled day of the initiative. It follows a Thursday session that ran from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
