A former Tioga Tiger will take over for longtime football coach Nick Aiello this fall.

Jake Howland, who is a 2014 Tioga grad, has been named the next head coach of the Tigers.

Aiello stepped down after a legendary 16-year run that included five state championships and 12 Section IV titles.

Howland played and coached under Aiello. He played center and linebacker for the Tigers before attending SUNY Cortland.

Howland returned to Tioga as an assistant coach in 2021.

He will lead the Tigers onto the field for the first time on Sept. 5 when they play Delhi at Waverly’s Memorial Stadium.
