Local football standouts earn All-State honors

The New York State Sportswriters Association recently honored the best football players in the state, and several local standouts made the cut.

The Waverly Wolverines had four players receive first-team All-State honors in wide receiver Xavier Watson, offensive lineman Kam Hills, defensive lineman Troy Beeman and kicker Hogan Shaw.

Quarterback Ben Shaw and defensive lineman Matthias Welles both earned second team honors in Class C, while Kolsen Keathley received an honorable mention.

Tioga’s Tate MaCauley was named to the Class D first team as an offensive lineman, while running back Jake Browne and defensive lineman Garrett Godfrey were named second-team All-State.

In Pennsylvania, Athens sophomore Connor Davidson was named to the PFN Coaches Select Class 4A All-State team.
