The Sayre boys and Waverly girls captured the 2024 Valley Christmas Tournament championships over the weekend.
For the Redskins, it was the program’s first Christmas Tournament title since 2001.
Sayre captured the championship with a 57-44 win over rival Waverly on Saturday night.
Zach Senese led Sayre with 19 points, including four three-pointers. Nick Pellicano added 17 points, three assists and four steals and Hudson Trump had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in the win.
Hogan Shaw led Waverly with 21 points in the loss.
The Waverly girls picked up a 50-32 win over Norwich earlier on Saturday night to earn the Valley Christmas Tournament championship.
Ryleigh Judson led Waverly with 19 points, while Brilynn Belles had 13 and Addison Westbrook chipped in nine in the victory.
