The April 28th storm that dumped huge volumes of rain on the Southern Tier, caused damage in Broome County that will cost more than $4 million to repair.
The single-biggest amount of that total, $1.6 million will go to replace the Bailey Hollow Bridge in the Town of Maine. The stream it crosses exploded in size, quickly overwhelming the bridge. Elsewhere in Broome County, many damaged roads remain open, but drivers are being warned to be careful.
Meanwhile, the flash flood damage estimate in Chenango County has risen to nearly 3 million dollars, which is 800-thousand dollars higher than last week, as more trouble spots were identified.
There is debate on whether an old bridge in Norwich will be replaced which would cost one million dollars.
