The Early Owego Antique Center officially opened yesterday with a ribbon cutting at the former JJ Newberry Store on the corner of Lake and Main Streets. More than 50 antiques dealers are offering their wares in the renovated three-story building which hopes to attract residents as well as tourists to the area. The building was purchased by Jim Mead and his wife Cornelia after being vacant for a couple of years. Mead says the Grand Opening festivities continue today for the Friday night art walk and into Saturday.
And on Saturday the antique center will host a lecture by a local historian on the Generals Sullivan and Clinton campaign of 1779. The Early Owego Antique Center still has space for antique vendors, and is open daily from 10a-6p, closed only on Tuesdays.
