A Chenango woman collided with an ambulance on Sunday. 37-year-old Heather Wiggins was pulling out of the Weis Plaza on Upper Front Street just after 2 PM, when an ambulance traveling northbound en route to an emergency medical call in Port Crane struck the driver’s side of her car. Wiggins spun out of control and went across Front Street and into an embankment. She was pinned in her car when crews were able to free her. She sustained injuries to her leg, hip, and face. According to the sheriff’s office, her airbag did go off, and it likely saved her life. The Town of Chenango ambulance was also severely damaged. The accident caused an hour-long traffic delay.
