It’s an analysis designed to show the strengths, weaknesses, and potential for growth in Broome County. County leaders heard the report Tuesday by the E.M. Pemrick Company. The analysis said the county must focus on jobs, and having enough available to retain current residents and attract new residents to the region. Pemrick’s economic analysis says communicating to surrounding areas and states is key. The report said Broome County needs to promote what it has to offer, including skilled labor, higher education, water resources and transportation. The county also needs to improve on addressing outdated industrial buildings and the lack of shovel-ready sites. The analysis also covered areas of business life cycles and real estate assessments. It said the county and its residents focus too much on the area’s economic and industrial past.
