The fate of the Chenango Valley-Chenango Forks school district merger is now in the hands of the community. The boards of education from both districts voted and approved a measure Monday night to bring the issue to the voters. CV voted unanimously and CF voted 3-2 in favor of handing the decision over to the taxpayers. The decision will now be in a straw vote. That’s a non-binding vote the community will get to make. If that vote receives a yes in each district, there will then be a statutory vote. That will be the permanent vote also made by the community. CF debated about some of the missing numbers from the merger study. The straw vote will take place Dec. 3 at both schools.
