A Town of Maine man is facing prison time for a robbery at a Binghamton gas station this summer. 38-year-old Steven VanWinkle was sentenced earlier this month in Broome County Court after he pleaded guilty to a felony count of third-degree robbery. VanWinkle faced the charge after police say he entered the Hess Express Convenience store in June and forcibly stole property from the store clerk while pretending to be armed with a knife. No one was injured in the incident. VanWinkle received the maximum sentence, a term of 2.5 to 7 years in prison.
