A recent audit of the Village of Deposit determined that the village did not effectively oversee finances. The audit reviewed the village’s records from 2008 through 2013. State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli says errors were made in relation to maintenance of accounting records, citing an example where revenues recorded at an end of the year annual update were less than what was recorded in accounting records. As a result, unreasonable budgets were drafted during those reviewed years. DiNapoli says the village board recognized the results and will take “corrective action”.
