Hundreds of Binghamton residents were without power in the frigid temperatures on Tuesday night. Around 6:30 in the evening, almost 900 NYSEG customers found themselves in the dark with no power, and in several cases, no heat. The outage affected residents along with street lamps and traffic lights. A number of families reported that they kept warm by huddling together in their winter coats, gloves and hats. Close to 30 streets in the city lost power on Tuesday. According to NYSEG, 891 customers were without electricity, accounting for about four percent of all Binghamton NYSEG customers.
