Crews were able to quickly put out a garage fire at 14 Brookside Avenue in Apalachin last night just after 7 pm. Firefighters said they were able to keep the blaze contained to the garage. The Apalachin Fire Chief said it looks like it was something electrical that started the fire. Then it spread to some of the materials that were still in the garage. Campville, Vestal and Apalachin fire departments all responded. The family was home at the time of the fire — but everyone, including the pets, got out safely.
