April 18th-25th is National Infant Immunization Week. Chickenpox, Influenza, Measles, Mumps, Whooping Cough, and more are preventable with vaccinations administered to newborns through six-year-olds, according to the Tioga County Health Department. The Public Health Department in Owego administers these vaccinations and encourages parents to bring their children in. Ninety-eight percent of school children in Tioga County are properly vaccinated, higher than the national average. If you have any questions, call the Tioga County Department of Health or visit cdc.gov/vaccines.
