The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office held its annual awards ceremony on Thursday. Dozens of members from county services and the sheriff’s department were honored. The sheriff and employee recognition committee look at what people, such as deputies, have done over the last year, and acknowledge them for outstanding work. “For me it’s a progression, it’s, you know, I see them in their infancy come in and they’re unknown, they’re untrained and then to see them take this stance of going forward and helping everyone else, it’s really a sense of pride for me,” said Tioga County Sheriff, Gary Howard. But not all the recipients were officers. “It’s an honor, I really enjoy working for the sheriff’s office so for them to feel the same way about me, to think that I do a good enough job to receive a medal, I’m very grateful,” said pay clerk, Arrah Richards. “I love working for them.” Pins were given to members of the sheriff’s office that had reached a milestone year of service. There was also a Lifesaver Award, Drug Buster Award and Employee of the Quarter award. The administration uses the ceremony as a way to show their appreciation for a job well done.
