Whitney Point schools are back open Tuesday after the District was forced to close yesterday after several school buses were vandalized. At least 19 vehicles, 15 of them school buses, were damaged. According to the school District, a door was pounded open with a hammer to break into the bus garage. Windows on buses were broken and some tires were slashed on some of the smaller vehicles. Whitney Point is working with New York State Police to investigate who is responsible for the damage. Other districts have stepped up and offered to help, which has made it possible to reopen the schools so quickly. The investigation is ongoing, no arrests have been made, and anyone with information is asked to contact the New York State police.
