The Owego Police Department has announced that it’s received a grant from CVS/Pharmacy to install a drug collection unit at OPD headquarters. The grant comes as part of CVS/Pharmacy’s “Medicine Abuse Project” which seeks to help keep prescription drugs out of the wrong hands, with a special focus on teenagers. According to a 2014 study cited by CVS/Pharmacy, 70% of teenagers say that it’s easy to access prescription drugs in their parent’s homes. The Medicine Abuse Project is trying to change that. The new drug collection unit will be available between the hours of 7am to 4pm at OPD headquarters at 90 Temple Street in Owego. No questions will be asked.
