The Town of Owego is looking to convert it’s street lamps to LED technology. Town officials and SmartWatt vendor representatives held a planning meeting at the Owego Town Hall Wednesday to discuss initial details of the project. The Town is looking to replace roughly 550 street lamps with the LED technology. Preliminary estimates suggest that the move to LED bulbs could save town taxpayers upwards of 60% in energy and maintenance costs for street lighting. The entire project is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of 2017.
