The main Apalachin Fire Station on Pennsylvania Avenue is now closed and demolition is expected to begin the first week of April. Asbestos abatement will start on Monday. A new station will be constructed in its place at 230 Pennsylvania Avenue, and the Apalachin Fire Department hopes to move into their new station sometime this fall. Station 1 was in operation for 65 years. The department has moved their vehicles to their other two stations.
