The annual Candor St. Baldrick’s Event will be held on Sunday at the Candor High School. The event raises money to fund childhood cancer research. This year’s event will include an 11-year-old boy from Newark Valley who is dealing with his second round of brain cancer. He has a team of 10 people who will be shaved, and the Newark Valley Middle School has a team of 14 people who will shave their heads to support him. Together, they have raised more than $10,000 this year. The shaving event will run from 1-4pm Sunday at the Candor High School. A 5K will be held at 9:30am starting at the Candor Fire Station. Sign-ups begin at 8:30am. You can donate to the event on the St. Baldrick’s website by searching “Candor, NY.” Organizer Kelly Starkweather was on the WEBO Morning Show today. You can listen to the interview below.
