The Owego-Apalachin School District Board of Education adopted their final budget last night. The $45.9 million spending plan will go before district voters on May 16. It includes a 1.05 percent increase to the property tax levy, but individual tax rates will be determined by state equalization rates later this year. The district ended up receiving $360,000 more in state aid than they anticipated, which slightly increased the final budget from the plan that was presented in March. The proposed budget for the 2017-2018 school year increases spending by 1.9 percent over the current year’s budget. Information sessions will be held for district voters at 6pm on Tuesday, May 2 at Apalachin Elementary and at 6pm on Thursday, May 4 at the District Offices.
