The Binghamton Senators ended their 15-year run in the Southern Tier Saturday with a 4-1 loss to the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in front of a record crowd of 4,896 fans in the Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Arena. It was the last game ever for the B-Sens as Ottawa is moving their AHL affiliate to Ontario after playing in Binghamton since 2002. But, local hockey fans won’t be without the AHL next season, as the New Jersey Devils will move their top minor league affiliate from Albany to Binghamton. The Devils will be the sixth professional hockey team to call Binghamton home since 1973.
