Binghamton University has organized a way to accept unwanted items from college students as they move out of their dorm rooms or apartments for summer break. The “Ditch the Dumpster” campaign asks students to think about donating their unused or unwanted items instead of just throwing them into the garbage. Donated items include furniture, household goods, clothing, books, and useable food items. Any food that is collected goes to the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse. The university says they collected more than 34,000 pounds of goods last year. This year’s campaign started May 10 and will continue through this Friday.
