Former New York State Assembly Speaker, Sheldon Silver, has been sentenced to seven years in prison. Silver was convicted of corruption in a re-trial that completed in May. He had been convicted at an earlier trial, but a Supreme Court ruling changed the rules in public corruption trials. Silver received a 12 year sentence from his original trial.
