The Broome County Sheriff’s Office is currently conducting an investigation into the death of a man whose remains were located Wednesday morning in the Town of Maine. About 9:20am, the Broome County 911 center received a call from a resident in the Town of Maine reporting the discovery. The caller had come upon the decedent while walking along Nanticoke Creek. The decedent was located in a wooded area between Edgewood Road and Nanticoke creek.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office identified the decedent as Michael A. Petro, 52 years old of State Route 26, Town of Maine. Next of kin have been notified of his death. A post mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday, at Wilson Medical Center. The investigation is current and ongoing.
