In observance of National Wear Red Day, UHS will hold a “Go Red for Women” event starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 3, 2023, to recognize cardiovascular disease in women and the unique symptoms that it often presents. Part of the nationwide “Go Red for Women” campaign, the special day is a presentation of UHS in conjunction with the American Heart Association.

Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, accounting for more than 314,000 deaths a year, or about one in every five female deaths. Yet, heart disease very often can be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.

The American Heart Association’s signature women’s initiative, “Go Red for Women” is designed to increase women’s heart-health awareness and serve as a catalyst for change to improve the lives of women in the U.S. and around the globe.
