(Town of Spencer, NY) – Spencer-Van Etten middle schoolers in four classes had a fun time Wednesday at Career Day, learning about radio broadcasting, commercial production, marketing, programming and sales from Irene Radigan, of Radigan Media, whose stations include 17 over-the-air signals from Owego, Sayre, Athens, Waverly, Towanda, Elmira, Southport and Corning.
When she finished her 20-minute presentation, Irene grabbed her iPad and a microphone to record each student saying something about what they like about their school or district.
The students were quite impressed when Irene told them she would use their voices in a radio commercial, which she will produce Thursday in a local Radigan Media production studio.
When she asked the kids who listened to the radio, everyone’s hands went up. What music do they like? There was a mixture of musical genres, but the most popular were country, pop and rap.
Irene said the experience was “something awesome!”
