Sayre Junior High School girls recently won two softball games in the early season over Wellsboro, according to coach Matt Senese. In game 1, Sayre won by a score of 13 to 4, with a complete game pitched from Zoe Ward. She was backed up by offense from Kennedie Cochrane and McKenna Parrish, who reached base every at bat. McKenna Jarvis went 2 for 4, with a triple and single. Kiayah Horton had a pair of singles, Zoe Ward hit 3 singles, and Emily Strickland had a single and double.
Game 2 was a back and forth match with Wellsboro getting a 9-run lead before Sayre came from behind with a huge rally to clinch the win 16 to 11. Kiayah Horton had a pair of singles, Peyton Black had a clutch single to drive in 2 runs. On defensive, Kennedie Cochrane threw out 2 people stealing bases, and a potential game-saving line drive catch was sagged by McKenna Parrish.
