The Endwell Fire Department was recently selected to receive a $2,000 training stipend from New York’s Department of Homeland Security.

The money comes from legislation that gave over $140,000 to more than 50 fire departments across the state.

The funding will allow volunteer firefighters to receive compensation for completing over 100 hours of training. One goal of the stipend program is to improve recruitment and retention rates in local fire departments.
