A Lockport man has been sentenced to decades in prison after he was convicted for killing a woman in Elmira in 2021.

According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 34-year-old Stephen Pesesky III was sentenced to 20 years in prison followed by five years of post release supervision.

Pesesky was found guilty in the stabbing death of 34-year-old Jennifer Karda, who was killed on Johnson Street in Elmira back in October of 2021.

The trial was previously delayed for more than a year when Pesesky was found incompetent to stand trial. He was originally charged with second-degree murder, but due to his psychiatric issues, that was reduced to manslaughter in the first degree.
