A Massachusetts man was found guilty of murder and other related charges in Chemung County Court on Monday.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 29-year-old Springfield resident Dante Baldwin was convicted in the fatal shooting of a man outside of an Elmira bar in 2024.
Baldwin shot 44-year-old Norman Cherry six times on Grand Central Ave. just outside of Gush’s Thirsty Bear on May 20, 2024. Cherry was pronounced dead at a local hospital after the shooting.
During the trial, Baldwin said the shooting was self defense but the jury rejected the claim.
Baldwin faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
