A car accident left one teenager dead in Schuyler County on Monday morning.
According to the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office, the single-car crash occurred at around 11:45 a.m. on County Road 1 in the Town of Hector.
Police said a 2010 Ford Fusion being operated by 18-year-old Ithaca resident Michael Blake failed to negotiate a turn, went off the road and hit some trees.
The passenger in the vehicle, 17-year-old Marcus Knight of Trumansburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Blake was flown to the Upstate Medical Center for treatment.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
The Trumansburg and Enfield Fire Departments, Trumansburg Ambulance, New York State Police and Schuyler County Coroner’s Office also responded to the scene.
