For the first time in over a decade, a student from Athens Area High School has been named the Bradford-Sullivan Counties Outstanding Young Woman.

Regan McDaniel earned the title of Outstanding Young Woman during a ceremony held on Sept. 27 at Towanda High School.

McDaniel was chosen out of a field of 15 seniors representing five schools from Bradford and Sullivan Counties.

Along with the title, a medallion and portrait, McDaniel will also receive a $4,500 scholarship to attend the school of her choice.

McDaniel is a member of the National Honor Society and Future Farmers of America as well as being a cheerleader and member of the volleyball team.

She is the first Athens student to win the title since Lauren Pruyne in 2014.
