The Sayre Lady Redskins picked up a 3-1 win over Canton on Thursday to win the school’s first-ever District 4 volleyball championship.

Sayre snapped a 68-match losing streak dating back years at the beginning of this season and continued a historic campaign with the district title.

Grace Russo led Sayre with 15 service points, while Reghan McGaughey had 10 points and six kills, and Alex Schack had eight points with three aces and two kills.

The Redskins will now host District 2 champion Mountain View on Tuesday in the opening round of the PIAA Class A state tournament.
