Chemung County Executive Chris moss announced the county’s proposed 2026 budget on Wednesday.
The nearly $209 million dollar spending plan includes a proposed 3.2 percent tax cut.
The full value tax rate would drop from $4.92 per 1,000 to $4.76 per 1,000 if the budget is approved.
The full value tax rate is the average of the City of Elmira and 11 towns within the county. Individual county tax rates may vary within each municipality because of equalization rates.
