Turkey Trot, parade highlight busy holiday weekend in Sayre

It will be a busy holiday weekend in Sayre Borough.

The annual Guthrie Sayre Turkey Trot will take place on Thanksgiving morning with the Kids Fun Run starting at 9:30 and the 5K race kicking off at 10 on Thursday.

On Friday, the Sayre Borough Christmas Parade returns for its 27th year. The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. and runs down Lockhart Street to Desmond Street and Packer Avenue before finishing in Howard Elmer Park.

Also on Friday, the Bridge of the Penn York Valley Churches will start their annual Sleepout at 3 p.m. at the Guthrie building, located at 105 Desmond Street. The 24-hour event to bring awareness to the needs of some Valley residents will run through 3 p.m. on Saturday.

On Saturday, the Sayre Historical Society will host its annual Model Train Day.

This free event will run from 10 am to 4 pm at the historical society, located on South Lehigh Ave.
