A Masschusetts man has been sentenced to decades in state prison for the murder of a man in Elmira in 2024.
According to the Chemung County District Attorney’s Office, 30-year-old Dante Baldwin was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison after he was found guilty of murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Baldwin shot 44-year-old Norman Cherry six times on Grand Central Ave. in Elmira on May 20, 2024. Cherry later died from his injuries at a local hospital.
Baldwin received 25 years to life for the murder charge and 10 years for the criminal possession of a weapon charge. Those sentences will be served concurrently.
