Tioga County is launching a Hometown Hero Banner program to honor local first responders and military members.
Similar to banner programs in Binghamton and the Valley, each banner will feature the hero’s name, rank, Tioga County town and a photo.
The Tioga County United Way is leading the effort to highlight local fire, military, police and EMS workers.
The banners will be hung in Owego from the end of the Court Street Bridge to Front Street, Main Street, North Ave. and other areas downtown.
The deadline to apply is April 1. The cost is $150 for each banner. The goal is to have the banners up by Memorial Day.
