Tioga County election officials are extending office hours Tuesday as voters prepare for the November 3 general election. The Board of Elections office at 1062 State Route 38 in Owego will remain open from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. on October 20, two hours later than its regular weekday closing time.
Early voting begins Saturday, October 24, and continues through Sunday, November 1. The county says any registered voter may participate in the general election, and residents who still need to register must do so by October 24. Voters can check their registration status, review sample ballots and confirm a polling place through resources linked by the county Board of Elections.
The office has also posted additional extended business hours before Election Day. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 24 and 25, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on October 26 and 27, and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 31 and November 1.
One Election Day polling location has changed in the Town of Owego. Voters in Owego election districts 12, 13 and 19 who previously used the Apalachin United Methodist Church at 303 Pennsylvania Avenue will now vote in the gymnasium at South Apalachin Baptist Church, 4116 Pennsylvania Avenue in Apalachin. The former polling location has closed, and the county says notices are being mailed to affected households.
Election Day polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m. on November 3. Voters with questions can contact the Tioga County Board of Elections at 607-687-8261 or use the state voter lookup service linked on the county elections page to confirm their assigned polling place before voting.
