Sheshequin man convicted of sexually abusing child

A Sheshequin man was recently found guilty of sexually abusing a child.

According to the Bradford County District Attorney’s Office, 46-year-old Jesse Gallagher was convicted of two counts of attempted involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 13, two counts of attempted statutory sexual assault and one count of corruption of minors.

Gallagher was found guilty after a two-day trial in Bradford County Court.

The crimes were committed while the child was under Gallagher’s supervision in 2024.

Gallagher was accused of similar offenses against two children in 2011. Although Gallagher was not successfully prosecuted for those offenses in 2011, those two prior victims (who are now adults) testified that Gallagher sexually abused them similarly when they were children.

Gallagher was already a convicted felon prior to his January 23rd guilty verdict. He was convicted in 2016 of Delivery of a Controlled Substance and other drug related charges. Gallagher served approximately seven years in a Pennsylvania state prison, and he was on parole when he committed the 2024 sex offenses.

Gallagher was found guilty of two counts of Felony 1 Attempted Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse with a Child less than 13 years of age, two counts of Felony 1 Attempted Statutory Sexual Assault, and one count of Felony 3 Corruption of Minors. He faces maximum penalties of as much as forty years incarceration for each count of Attempted Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse, twenty years incarceration for each count of Attempted Statutory Sexual Assault, and seven years incarceration for Corruption of Minors. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
