The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announces a bridge repair project is planned to begin this month on Cayuta Street (Route 1062) in Sayre Borough.

Starting on Monday, April 20, Cayuta Street will be closed between Mowhawk Street (Route 199) and Plain Street (T-124), while the contractor, L.C. Whitford, begins repair work on the bridge spanning the railroad tracks.

A detour using Spring Street (Route 199) in Sayre Borough, Cayuta Avenue, Chemung Street, Shepard Road in New York State, and Shepard Street (T-123) in Athens Township, will be in place for the duration of the project.

L.C. Whitford is the prime contractor for this $1,016,378 bridge repair project. Work on the project includes repairs to the concrete bridge deck, application of a new concrete bridge deck, installation of lighting, and removal and paving of bridge approaches. The project is anticipated to be completed in July 2026, weather permitting.
