Microburst causes damage in Steuben County

A microburst during a thunderstorm caused damage in Steuben County on Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Binghamton, a severe thunderstorm produced a microburst with estimated peak winds between 90 and 100 miles per hour in the Town of Lindley.

A microburst is a localized downdraft of air within a thunderstorm that can cause extensive damage.

Many trees and power lines were brought down by strong winds along County Road 115.

No injuries have been reported from the incident.
