NORTH EAST, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Treasurer and Republican gubernatorial nominee Stacy Garrity met with local veterans Monday during a campaign stop in North East.
The roundtable discussion, hosted at the Mellon Heritage Foundation, focused on issues affecting Pennsylvania’s veteran community. Garrity, a retired U.S. Army Reserve colonel, met with approximately 10 veterans alongside State Rep. Jake Banta.
During the event, Garrity outlined several proposals aimed at supporting veterans, including tax incentives for businesses that hire veterans full-time, the creation of a statewide veteran ambassador program, and a proposed constitutional amendment to provide property tax relief for disabled veterans.
The discussion was part of Garrity’s broader campaign effort to engage with veterans, who represent a significant voting bloc in Pennsylvania.
Mellon Heritage Foundation officials also highlighted the organization’s mission of serving veterans, active-duty military members, first responders, and their families, while encouraging those in need to take advantage of available resources.
Pennsylvania’s general election is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 3.
