Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard has announced he will not seek re-election.
Howard was first elected sheriff in 2004 and has held the position for the past 22 years. His term will expire in December of 2027.
Howard started his career with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer and worked his way up through the ranks.
In a statement, Howard said it has been an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Tioga County for over 50 years.
